Dreams of God

God Dreaming

I had an encounter of truth last week during our Church celebration.  The preacher had been opening our eyes to the fact that when we create space for God He will come and fill it with His dreams and ideas.

Over the years I have had many dreams, ideas and rudely thought they were mine. But I believe that Jesus through the Holy Spirit has shown me otherwise.   Scripture reveals the work of the Holy Spirit is to teach us and show us things from a heavenly perspective. Jesus told the disciples that the Holy Spirit would be directed by Himself as to what to reveal at any given time John17: 13 – 15.

Dreams become a reality

  • We had a dream that women who walked and worked the streets, selling themselves would not have too. They no longer do in some locations!
  • We had a dream of helping leaders equip people in sharing the Gospel. Now I run a mission’s focused Bible School and coach leaders all around the globe!
  • Just a few examples to get you thinking! I have some new dreams bubbling away too.

These dreams came from Gods heart and perspective, they are His desires; the Holy Spirit planted the seed of idea into my heart.

We think we have a great idea’s or see a need that we think we could meet, actually who gives us those ideas those dreams, whose gift of creativity are we accessing. When we are living in the Kingdom of God and following Jesus Christ then I would suggest it is God, they are His ideas and dreams.

If we give God some room in our lives and stop hurrying around being busy with people, projects, daily living demands – Jesus himself is waiting to speak, waiting for us to listen or turn our attention towards something or someone He is looking to touch with His compassionate heart.

The Power of Story

What is your story?

The history of your life will impact someone. Looking back at photographic evidence of where you have been and who has been part of your life can paint a picture of the history your building into your world.

Holidays

Family and friends birthdays

Days out

Weddings

Funerals

Church gatherings

Overseas travel

Places you have worked

Schools you have attended

We all build a historical picture whilst we are here. Not all of it will be great memories or even how we thought life would turn out. That’s fine those events are still part of your history and may tell a powerful story that impacts someone one day.

My grandma always a great optimist taught me to take photos so when I am older I can look back and see what a lovely time I have had and remind myself of the people who have been around. I used to spend hours pouring over her photos from an old tin and loved hearing stories of the people in them.

Jesus story makes a difference

Jesus built a historical picture of His life in written format. His story is still being told today and impacts millions of people around the world as they sit at the feet of someone to listen. Stories tell much more than facts they allow us to almost be in the midst of the story ourselves so we feel in some way connected.

As you gather your story and retell events from your history. Think about the story that Jesus left and how His life history can impact your world, not only the way you think but more the way you live. As I listened to my Grandma I wanted to be part of her history and live as she had lived loving sport and being with family, drinking out of china cups for tea, serving in Church (she was a worship leader). My point is this I wanted to live as she had lived and as I read and listen to Jesus history I want to live as He lived!

Read the Gospels Mathew, Mark, Luke and John and listen for the stories of Jesus in a new way that will impact your life bringing transformation!

Making disciples takes some going

This week I have been thinking deeply about the power and authority that Jesus walked in during His ministry on earth.

What strikes me is that Jesus was a person of great vision. He knew what the He wanted to do and where He wanted to be. Often He would say to the disciples – I have come to declare and demonstrate the Kingdom of God, I can not stay in one place. All that time he walked in great power and authority.

At the end of His earthly ministry He stated to His disciples ” Go and make disciples everywhere and of every people group, as I have shown you and share the things I have explained to you” Matthew 28. Now Jesus grants the disciples His power and authority.

Today we are His disciples and we can walk in the that same power and authority. The call is to Go and share the Kingdom. This presents challenges sometimes:-

  • We may need to leave where we are
  • We will need to become risk takers
  • We will need to walk in obedience to what Jesus calls us to and not other people
  • We will need to walk in humility – the way of power and authority as Jesus did
  • We will need to ditch our pride and self boasting

Jesus calls us to follow Him, it is not about us but Him and His Kingdom.

When we follow and walk in His footsteps we really get to know Him!

Making disciples takes some going – from ourselves – to Jesus – to others

Recover your calling: Part Two

There are some practical elements into recovering your calling and aligning your focus.

1.Develop a personal mission statement: That clearly states this is who I am and what I am called to.

2. Make decisions/ choices around that statement.

3. Let go of what doesn’t connect with the statement this may include; projects of yesterday, negative friendships that may distract.

4. Be confident in what you discover and stick to it until God expresses otherwise.

Enjoy!!

Part One: Recover Your Focus

Ever find yourself doing everything for others and neglecting the task that God called you for. Each one of us has significance in the Kingdom of God and a purpose. Some are called to serve others to lead, others to administrate and many others things. For myself I was called as an evangelist, to connect with those around me wherever I am and speak boldly the message of the Lord.

Do I do this? Often sadly no, I find myself preoccupied with people with other distractions or red herrings. Many people come with great ideas or want conversations that may not always be helpful. This is not always faith building and can have a negative influence as well a huge distraction. My point is this lets not get distracted by what we are not called to do.

So my time when used unwisely can be unhelpful in pursuing what God has for me and more importantly those he is wishing to touch with his good news of the open Kingdom. I am sure there are many who are distracted in this way.God requires obedient living to be our number one priority.

The Bible in the book of Jeremiah states that “ God knows the plans and purposes for us, plans not to harm but to prosper us (mind, body and spirit).” So we could use this scripture as a guideline and ask how am I prospering in my mind, body and spirit.

A) In our minds are we acting out of stability, James claims that an unstable person is double minded and will behave as if they are being tossed around like the sea.  Being of sound and peaceful mind is key to stability. This can be cultivated by stopping and being with God to check your on the pathway he has ordained for you.

B) For our body are we eating a good and healthy way. Are we keeping fit by doing some small exercise? Are we getting enough rest and sleep? Sometimes we can be vulnerable to sickness and disease by the lifestyle we live, we can wear the body down if we do not take care of our physical wellbeing.

C) In our Spirit are we feeding ourselves on the life-giving source of Jesus. Do we have time for him in our busy days or are we neglecting him. So we can do and achieve more. If so we will soon run dry and become weary spiritually. Are we active in daily worship, prayer and scriptural insight, these will lead to a healthy Spirit and comes through authentic friendship with Jesus, our saviour.

The fruit of our lives

“I am the vine and you are the branches. Whoever lives in me and I in him bears much fruit.” Jesus (John 15: 5)

Often it can be difficult to know and discern how fruitful our lives are. Jesus Himself said we would fruitful, so we are well able. The only real measuring stick we have is to examine ourselves honestly and see where we are living as Jesus lived. Do we mirror the activities of Jesus as well as the character of the father as He did?

  • Do we have full faith and absolute trust in the Father as Jesus did?
  • Do we actively pray and seek the Kingdom in our own lives as well as for others?
  • Do we act out of love, mercy, kindness and forgiveness?
  • Are we generous with our time and money?
  • Do we demonstrate the power and authority of the Kingdom?
  • Do we teach the way of the Kingdom of God by acting with an opposite heart attitude to that of the world?
  • Jesus promises that when we walk in faith following Him, in His ways though friendship with Him we will bear much fruit! He came to reveal and demonstrate the Kingdom of God. He hasn’t stopped that work. He contiues to work through His people. That’s us!

As we follow Him, and according to scripture, He will dwell within us through the presence the Holy Spirit, so we shall reveal and demonstrate the Kingdom, words and action.

This week we were able to too take a team to help reach out into the world of New Age philosophy as part of a wider mission. We were able to pray for people to be healed and speak of the true source of power and authority in the spirit realm, Jesus Christ. For myself I want to be doing the Kingdom ministry as Jesus did and to bear much fruit. Paul put it like this “to Know Christ and be known by Him”.

John15: 8 reveals that when “we bear fruit then God is honoured and glorified, then we can be sure we are true followers”. Bearing fruit in our lives is an exciting adventure that I would encourage to embrace. Step away from anything holding you back and pursue a fruitful life as a branch of Jesus Christ! Be Blessed.

Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
